3) There is a shortage in economic rental cars during the high season on Cuba. It happens that rental cars for these periods are booked for you by car rental agencies, but that they are not available on the day of pick up. This can only be avoided by booking with a reliable operator working together with a Cuban host & agency. They look continuously after your car rental reservation to claim the reservation, and check if the car comes available on the right time and on the right place.

We make for you the reservation.You pay in Havana on arrival (or the day after in your hotel) the car rental to our Cuban partner. On the day of the pick up of the car, you are accompanied by our host to the car rental agency, where you pay the insurance & deposit.

Notes on private transfers with taxis, or your own driver:

1) Economic alternatives on Cuba for private transfers are taxi transfers from one location to another. If you prefer not to travel on Cuba by selfdrive, one or several private taxi transfers are quite common within a tailor made program of 3 days up to 4 weeks. This can be very well combined with regular bus transfers from one city to another. Private taxi transfers or excursions can be in common taxis or in classical American cars (closed roof or cabriolets).

2) For travel parties of 5-16 persons or more it is interesting to consider:
a) to contract a minivan and drive yourself, b) to contract a bus with driver and Cuban guide, or c) to contract a bus with driver & Tourguide specialized in Cuba (see: Guiding Services & Special projects).

3) VIP travel with driver is possible with an Audi A4 & A6. Besides the car rental you pay for the driver and all expenses.

4) There do exist some possibilities of renting your own car, and contracting a private working driver or driver/guide on Cuba for several days. But as these drivers are not working yet very professional it is very difficult to get this free lance drivers 100% compromised, and it is far from recommended so far ! Besides, all the expenses of meals, drinks & accommodation of the driver are for the client.
